Deirdre McCullough Grunwald

Deirdre McCullough Grunwald was a a self-taught New England artist whose work explored ancient, traditional sacred art patterns, and its link to contemporary abstraction and other cultures.
Inspired by the Book of Kells, Deirdre began an intensive study of Celtic art in the 1980’s, connecting her to her Irish heritage. Her interest in painting representational still life’s stemmed from a love of pattern. Additionally, the direct observation of the color, form, and spatial relationship informed her abstract and Celtic pieces which came from the imagination and dream.
Her work appears in private and corporate collections. She was a member of the New England Watercolor Society; The Cambridge Art Association and was a Resident Artist of the Brush Art Gallery & Studios in Lowell, MA for over 25 years.
